Hugo Blu-ray (PG)
Movie: 4 stars out of 4
Disc: 4 stars out of 4
Receiving 11 Oscar nominations and winning five, "Hugo" is a film about movies that transcends age, class, race and gender and offers further proof that Martin Scorsese is the world's greatest living filmmaker. Based on the fable/novel by Brian Selznick and adapted by John Logan, "Hugo" starts with a story about the orphaned titled character who lives in a Paris train station but slowly morphs into homage to the birth of motion pictures and one of its long-forgotten innovators. It is an unqualified masterpiece on every level and is easily the finest family-friendly movie produced in the last 50 years.
