NORCROSS -- Spud fanatics can rejoice.
In recognition of the Idaho Potato Commission's 75th anniversary, Publix Supermarkets will host the Great Big Idaho Potato Truck Tour from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Publix located at 3200 Holcomb Bridge Road in Norcross.
On Tuesday, a 48-foot long flatbed trailer will pull up to the grocery store, featuring a 28-foot long, 12-foot wide and 12-foot tall potato in honor of the commission's anniversary.
It debuted at Bronco Stadium for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl on Dec. 17, and has since been touring the United States.
The truck officially set off on its seven-month cross-country journey following a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter.
According to the Idaho Potato Commission's website, a potato as large as the one on the back of the flatbed trailer would take more than 10,000 years to grow, weigh six tons, would take two years and nine months to bake and could "easily make" more than 1.5 million french fries.
