DULUTH -- Police have arrested a 65-year-old Gwinnett County man for attempting to hire someone to kill his former business partner.
According to Cpl. Jake Smith, on June 26 an informant contacted Gwinnett County Police and told them he had been approached by Joseph Memar, 65, of Duluth, who "wanted the informant to find him a hit man to kill his former "business partner," Alireza Jebraeilli, 59, of Norcross.
On Wednesday, the informant met with Memar again, while detectives conducted surveillance. According to Smith, Memar offered the informant an initial payment of $1,500 with an additional $1,500 to be paid upon the death of the victim.
"A photo of Jebraeilli was doctored to appear as if he had been killed," Smith said. On Thursday, the informant met Memar again, while under surveillance.
"The informant showed the photo to Memar, who shook the informant's hand and thanked him," Smith said. "Memar told him that he would pay the remaining $1,500 the next day."
Police arrested Memar and charged him with criminal attempt to commit murder. He remains in custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

This guy paid three thousand dollars for a murder? What an idiot. He should have known at such a bargan he was being set up. In my neck of the woods, murder for hire starts at around ten thousand, more if it's made to look like a robbery. I mean, I thought everybody knew that.
