WINDER -- They say nothing runs like a Deere -- and this one ran all the way to Indiana.
Authorities in Indiana recently found a John Deere bulldozer reported stolen last year from Barrow County. The Barrow County roads and bridges department had rented the bulldozer to re-route Hoyt King Road when it was stolen from the area of that road and Ga. Highway 81, Barrow Sheriff's Office spokesman Inv. Matt Guthas said.
Local officials placed the vehicle's information on the National Crime Information Center database when it was stolen. Indiana law enforcement recently found it "while conducting a large scale investigation regarding stolen equipment," Guthas said.
Leads generated by the recovery are currently under investigation, and Barrow authorities are coordinating efforts with other local and state agencies.
