Police: Georgia Tech student shoots intruder

ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities say a Georgia Tech student shot an intruder who broke into a house near the campus.

Police say the shooting happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at a house near the Georgia Institute of Technology on the north edge of downtown Atlanta.

Atlanta police Capt. Adam Lee says that three male Georgia Tech students were asleep inside their home on Curran Street off 10th Street when an intruder broke through a front window of the house.

Lee said one of the residents, a first-year graduate student, was awakened by the shattering glass, grabbed a handgun and went to investigate.

Police say the student shot the intruder once in the chest. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Fantastic shot buddy. We will donate more bullets for you to use. They have been robbing and raping kids from Ga. Tech since 2005. Maybe this leans towards rats from New Orleans that moved here causing all the crimes.
