Gwinnett Daily Post
"Glad Arizona got something they wanted. The Feds are the blame for this in the first place. Didn't the Preseint take an Oath to uphold the laws and the Constitution? Why are the illegals screaming about that? Illegal is still illegal and against the law."

Once again this president used a situation to disappoint us again. Can't wait to have "change" in November.

Heard they are voting on an Immigration law tonight for Peachtree Corners...

Why isn't the border secured? If they would have done that in the 1970's this would not be a story today.

How you gonna pay for it, Teepee - airport revenues?

Your premise is false. The only thing Arizona got was what they, and all states, had all along. Once someone is arrested, the police have the right to check their immigration status, just as they can check for outstanding warrants. During the Obama administration, border security has been improved and deportations have increased. He is not allowed to spend money on strengthening the border unless congress authorizes it in the budget. If you want greater funding for border patrol, I suggest you write your Senators and Congressman.

Yes SELF deportation for economic reasons...
You didn't solve the problem if it drops on its own, but do feel free to report the company line…
As to a budget, the Senate hasn't passed one in 3 years!
You know the DEMOCRATICALLY controlled one?
All they have done is vote continuing resolutions Why there wasn’t one passed in the last year when the President’s party controlled all three segments...

Prithee tell, how would the unaccounted for self-deportees have been accounted for? That's just plain ridiculous. Ummm, no, actual real deportations by the numbers. You can even check Gwinnett's contributions to that via our 287(g) program on the Sheriff's website. You mean the Congress gridlocked (since Bush tried to fund an unprovoked war with a tax cut) by those eager to stock up the DOD and start the next war?

How about economic job numbers? How about all the comments from local businesses that catered to a specific demographic stating how things ranging from car to grocery sales all DROPPED due to such things as GA HB 87. (and I don’t recall Mr. Obama having thing one to do with it)
Why it was even confirmed to be SELF DEPORTATION by those actually doing it ALL over the metro area. If you dig a little, you’ll find some of those stories right here on back issues, but if TV is more to your liking - you’ll find MANY videos addressing it there too. NONE of these cases made the mathematical "list"
As to Gwinnet’s 287 holds - which is a FANTASTIC program btw, I wonder how many of those are NOW in FEDERAL custody awaiting “evaluation”?

Actually, as opposition to the court rulling, Justice Scalia wrote "…to say, as the Court does, that Arizona contradicts federal law by enforcing applications of the Immigration Act that the President declines to enforce boggles the mind. If securing its territory in this fashion is not within the power of Arizona, we should cease referring to it as a sovereign State. "
The court also determined that it was a crime to enter this country illegally, but it is not a crime to stay here after entering illegally. To me, that's the same as saying it is illegal to rob a bank, but paying for things with money gained from robbing a bank is not illegal.

Why do you only quote Scalia's opinion? He has consistently been the most right wing justice. He is now 76 years old. Georgia forces teachers to retire at age 70 and yet our Justices are allowed to serve until they recognize a limited capacity to serve. Only Clarence Thomas held the same opinion, which is not surprising since he usually votes with Scalia. Scalia's rantings are degenerating to the type of rhetoric that comes from right wing partisan hacks like Rush Limbaugh.

So, his opinion should be devalued simply because of his age? And here I thought liberals were the party of tolerance...
