MILLEDGEVILLE — The Georgia Board of Regents has approved a new president for Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

The board has named the loan finalist, Steve Michael Dorman, as the head of the central Georgia college.

Dorman is dean of the University of Florida in Gainesville's College of Health and Human Performance and a professor. He is a former professor and head of the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University.

The board will vote on Dorman's appointment Friday.

He will replace Dorothy Leland, who left in last year to be president of the University of California, Merced.
