LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Friday morning fire heavily damaged a Stone Mountain home in the 5100 block Vivid Drive. Investigators have called in an arson K9 to help determine the exact cause, after being provided with unspecified information from neighbors, officials said.
Fire crews arrived at 8:03 a.m. to find the home ablaze, and they brought it under control about a half an hour later. Initial reports from neighbors that a woman might still be in the home were false, said Fire Department spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden.
The woman, who will be displaced by heavy interior damage, returned to the scene and was talking with firefighters Friday morning. No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross was called to help assist the woman.
"Fire investigators are looking into information being reported by the neighbors," Rhoden said.
Rhoden said more specific information will be released when available.
