NORCROSS -- Police are searching for a suspect accused of attempting to kidnap a woman from a Norcross book store over the weekend.
Gwinnett County police said the man -- described by the victim as approximately 5-foot-9, balding and "Middle Eastern-looking" -- approached the 20-year-old victim at about 5 p.m. Sunday at the Barnes and Noble on Peachtree Parkway. The suspect reportedly grabbed the woman as she was looking at magazines, telling her to "come with me" and that she was "the one."
According to an incident report, the suspect started dragging the victim toward the store's entrance. She hit him and screamed before another customer pushed him away.
"The suspect then walked to the coffee shop where he proceeded to buy a cup of coffee before leaving the store," the police report said. "(Witnesses) claimed that as the suspect walked away he continued to stare at (the victim) and smile."
Once in his vehicle, described as a silver passenger car, the suspect reportedly asked another witness how to get to the Mall of Georgia.
Gwinnett County police are asking anyone with information about the incident or suspect to call 770-513-5300.
