DULUTH -- Grab your blankets, cameras and best cheering voice because Duluth Idol is back for a second year with several competitors vying for first place 6 p.m. Thursday at the Duluth Festival Center Amphitheater Stage. It is a part of the city's No Reason Block Party.

"The city does this just to find some talent -- untapped talent," said Duluth event coordinator Jayne Madigan. "This is a chance for the community to come out and support local singers."

This year's judges are Eddie Owen of the Red Clay Theatre, Sherry Ingbritsen of New Dawn Theater and Paula Shear, Duluth resident and singer.

Scoring will be based on talent, appearance, stage presence and overall performance as well as audience votes.

Nine people will win from three different ages groups. As a prize, each performer has a chance to sing at future Duluth events.

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring chairs and blanket. Outside food and beverage is allowed, including beer and wine. This is a Duluth "Red Zone" event, which allows patrons to purchase alcoholic beverages from local merchants and walk around the downtown area.
