Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjensm who will return to Atlanta’s lineup Friday, leaves Gwinnett with a 5.27 ERA through nine games and gave up nine runs in one start and 11 in another.

LAWRENCEVILLE — In a blink, Jair Jurrjens' final Class AAA tune-up before he heads to Boston and the big leagues ended.

The right-hander, set to start for the Atlanta Braves on Friday against the Boston Red Sox threw his scheduled one inning start Tuesday for the Gwinnett Braves, his 10th appearance for the minor league club. After striking out the first two batters on nine pitches, Jurrjens walked the next two before ending his 20-pitch, nine strike outing with a long fly ball to left field.

Jurrjens returns to the big leagues after a mixed stint in the minors. Last year's All-Star Game starter for the National League made nine starts for Gwinnett going 3-4 with a 5.27 ERA. He put together four outings of seven or more innings and lasted less than five three times. On those three occasions he allowed double-digit hits and three of his four losses. He last two starts he tossed at least six innings allowing six runs off 13 hits, striking out seven. A Grand Slam in his final inning of work his last start cost him a shutout.

Against the Red Sox on Friday, Jurrjens will face a team hitting .268, third best in major league baseball.
