SMYRNA — Authorities say a suburban Atlanta woman is facing a murder charge after her daughter was found dead, and an investigation found that she severely malnourished.
Cobb County police say they responded to a 911 call Friday at a Smyrna residence, where they found the girl's body. Officer Mike Bowman said the investigation revealed that the girl was severely malnourished and neglected.
Police arrested the girl's mother, 38-year-old Ebony Espree Berry, who faces the murder charge and a charge of first-degree cruelty to children.
A police statement did not include the girl's age. WSB-TV reports that she's a teenager.
Cobb County jail records do not indicate whether Berry has an attorney in the case.
