SUWANEE -- After two months of delays, the new Twisted Taco location in Suwanee is expected to open on Wednesday.
Franchisee Gavin Abadi said the restaurant, which was originally slated to open in mid-April, has been delayed most recently by a special order of furniture. Previously, the restaurant was delayed by the installation of five "private old fashioned wild west style jail cells" and a flat- screen television for each booth.
"We really wanted to make sure everything was perfect," said Abadi, who is also a part-owner of Twisted Taco locations in Johns Creek and Buckhead.
Twisted Taco is a Tex-Mex style sports bar that features more than 60 tequila varieties. This is the seventh location around metro Atlanta.
Twisted Taco will move into the old Chili's location in Highland Station at 3433 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. Painters finished the artwork in the restaurant in late March.
"We chose this location because we see Suwanee as a predominately residential area, and since we are a family-friendly restaurant, it seemed like a good fit," Abadi said.
Abadi said a grand opening celebration will be two to three weeks after the restaurant opens.
"We truly put our heart and souls in this project and have had so many delays," Abadi said. "This date is safe though."
He added that the restaurant could have opened sooner, but Abadi elected for a full week's training for staff.
