Large job fair scheduled for Friday

NORCROSS -- Looking for a job? Friday could be your lucky day.

Organizers with the Gwinnett Village Community Alliance have announced the third annual career and job fair presented by BB&T and Victory World Church.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Victory World Church, 5905 Brook Hollow Parkway, Norcross, the event gives job seekers a chance to network with about 30 employers and recruiters from local businesses like BB&T, the Gwinnett County Police Department, Gwinnett Medical Center, Chick-fil-A, Pepsi and Brickman Landscaping.

"With one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, many Gwinnett families are experiencing job loss and significant financial stress," said Letycia Pastrana, executive director. "We are anticipating that more than 1,000 job seekers will be in attendance providing a great opportunity for companies to search for quality employees."

Industry experts from partner organizations will offer workshops on topics like unemployment and credit; unemployment and finances; building your resume, interview skills; and dressing for success.

The Gwinnett Village Community Alliance is a nonprofit organization that "leverages partnerships with local governments, businesses, schools, residents and nonprofit organizations to engage in programs that strengthen neighborhoods and promote a rich arts and cultural community."
