CID plans more beautification for U.S. 29

LILBURN -- The main highway through Lilburn isn't just safer -- it's also spruced up.

Just months after construction wrapped up on a widening project along U.S. Highway 29, the Lilburn Community Improvement District's efforts to add some beauty to the landscape have transformed the area again.

With funds raised by the self-taxing district, crews installed new landscaping materials on eight highway median areas, recently added between Ronald Reagan Parkway and the U.S. Post Office in the city.

But the work is not yet complete, officials said, announcing plans for further beautification.

"The CID is planning to launch a new Highway 29 maintenance program to be fully implemented during the next months," said CID Director Gerald McDowell. "The CID is working with the city of Lilburn, Gwinnett County and our commercial property owners to begin routinely removing trash, cutting grass and improving the corridor's overall curb appeal."
