ATHENS (AP) -- A 21-year-old man faces a DUI charge after police say they caught him driving a golf cart belonging to an Athens convention center.
Authorities say an officer on bike patrol spotted Sourush Samimi driving the golf cart down Ruth Drive early Thursday morning. Athens-Clarke County police say he was also charged with driving without headlights and theft by receiving.
The golf cart belongs to the Classic Center, the downtown Athens convention and performance venue.
Police say Samimi told them he saw the golf cart flipped over in a parking lot, and that he was driving it simply to see if it would still run after being flipped over.
Samimi could not be reached, and it wasn't immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
