ATLANTA (AP) -- Georgia's labor commissioner says new unemployment numbers mark the first time in 10 months that the state's jobless rate has failed to decline.
Labor Commissioner Mark Butler announced early Thursday that Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged at 8.9 percent from April to May. The jobless rate was 9.8 percent in May a year ago.
Butler said that although the unemployment rate held steady, Georgia now has the fewest jobless workers receiving unemployment insurance benefits since the start of the recession in 2007. He also says the numbers of new layoffs and long-term unemployed are down.

Many construction workers and other independent contractors do not collect unemployment. When work is not available, they simply don't work. Still others have had unemployment run out. Just because we have the fewest people on the unemployment rolls, doesn't mean we have the fewest people out of work.

Where's Teepee???? Come on, tell us with Bannister-Kenerly-Beaudreau International, the US unemplyment rate would actually be negative...oh but think of all the bribes and drug money that could be sloshing around the Heathen's pockets and lining their freezers.

As many people are "out of work" it seems rather strange that shopping malls are very busy and many places to eat are FULL. Its also strange that the traffic is just as bad.

Aren't you glad 10% of the population is unemployed and can't afford to crowd you out of a table at your favorite restaurant, jump in front of you in line at the mall or cut you off on the road?
