AUSTELL — A health care firm says it will eliminate 42 jobs at Cobb Hospital in Austell, just west of Atlanta.
WellStar Health System officials say that the positions will be eliminated b early July, though company officials hope to reassign those employees.
Officials say the cuts include registered nurses, people who transport patients throughout the hospital and others.
WellStar spokesman Keith Bowermaster says that the 382-bed hospital in Austell has experienced lower patient volumes and an increase in the number of uninsured patients in recent months.
He said the health system has a "no-layoff policy" and that eligible employees will be offered a position within the system.
