LILBURN -- Gwinnett County has issued a rabies alert after a raccoon found in Lilburn tested positive for the virus.
The raccoon was found Friday on Newport Lane in Lilburn, officials said. It later tested positive for rabies at the state laboratory.
Anyone who has been bitten or scratched, or knows of anyone handling the animal, is asked to call the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement bite officer at 770-339-3200, ext. 5576.
