LAWRENCEVILLE — A grease fire on a stove at a Lawrenceville home caused injuries that sent two women and a toddler to the hospital Sunday evening, fire officials said. None of the injuries are life-threatening.
Gwinnett County fire officials say paramedics treated the family of three as firefighters battled the blaze about 5:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Coalville Drive in Lawrenceville.
Fire officials say the women were treated by paramedics for minor to moderate burns and possible inhalation burns.
The toddler was treated for smoke inhalation.
Fire Department spokesman Capt. Eric Eberly says all three people were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.
Fire investigators have determined that the blaze was accidentally caused by a grease fire on a stove that was being used in the garage. The fire was declared under control at 6:18 p.m., said Eberly.
“Firefighters quickly contained the majority fire to the garage area,” Eberly said. “There was significant damage to the garage and moderate smoke damage to the remainder of the home.”
