SUWANEE -- Antonio Aguirre Sr. hopes a new menu and lower prices will translate to increased business.

Aguirre, who owns Hacienda Corralejo Mexican Flair and Tequila Bar, which is behind Town Center, reopened the store about a month ago. It's located at 3890 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, and was previously called Corralejo Mexican Flair & Tequila Bar.

It was closed for about three months while Aguirre went back to an old menu he first used at another restaurant he ran 14 years ago. Altogether, Hacienda has been in Suwanee for about a year.

"It's growing, but nobody knows we're here again," Aguirre said.

Aguirre and his son, Antonio Aguirre Jr., own the Suwanee location and a similar restaurant in Monroe.

Aguirre said customer response has been slow since the re-opening, but he's offered coupons and other enticements to bring them back. The restaurant has karaoke on Thursdays, and teacher, student and senior discounts through the week.

One of the changes to the menu was the size and price of margaritas. The old menu had one size, now the restaurant offers four. Margarita prices also dropped by $2 to $3, Aguirre said.

A couple of items that were lost in the transition were salmon and mahi mahi, Aguirre said.

"This is the old menu that everybody likes," Aguirre said. "The new menu nobody knew. Some of them liked it, but it took more time to serve."

He added that the current menu allows customers to order and eat within 30 minutes, something he hopes is an appeal to the lunch crowd.

"Maybe that was the problem we had before," Aguirre said.
