The Sting Blu-ray (PG)
Movie: 4 stars out of 4
Disc: 4 stars out of 4
Four years after they collaborated on "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid," leads Paul Newman and Robert Redford along with director George Roy Hill delivered this breezy and comedic crime caper that went on to win seven of the 10 Oscar nominations it received. With music from ragtime king Scott Joplin, it was shot in manner reflecting its Depression-era setting and these quaint flourishes left some feeling it was too lightweight to win the Best Picture prize. Sure, whatever. It has charm and style to burn and still holds up remarkably well 40 years later.
