Florida man charged in 4 DUI deaths pleads guilty
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A Florida man accused of killing four people in a drunken driving crash has pleaded guilty.
With jury selection set to begin in Pinellas County, 22-year-old Demetrius Jordan pleaded guilty Tuesday to four counts of DUI manslaughter and one count of driving under the influence with serious bodily injury. He faces up to life in prison at his July 20 sentencing.
Authorities say Jordan had been smoking marijuana and drinking Four-Loko -- a caffeinated alcoholic drink -- in August 2010, before running a red light at an estimated 80 mph. He crashed into a car, killing 51-year-old Elroy McConnell II and his three sons, 28-year-old Elroy III, 24-year-old Nathan and 19-year-old Kelly.
Tests showed Jordan's blood-alcohol level was 0.154 percent. Florida law considers a driver impaired at 0.08.
