Duluth grad hired as Louisville's head golf coach

Louisville announced Monday that it hired Courtney Swaim Trimble, a Duluth High grad, as the university's new head women's golf coach.

Trimble has worked the past three seasons as the head women's coach at Central Florida, which she rebuilt into a national power in a short span. The Knights made the NCAA Regionals this season and won two tournaments this season for the first time since 2001.

"I am extremely excited about this incredible opportunity to coach at the University of Louisville," Trimble said. "With world-class facilities and a commitment to athletic excellence, (athletic director) Tom Jurich has provided all the resources to make women's golf one of the nation's elite. I am looking forward to building on the success of the women's golf program and bringing it to national prominence."

Trimble was an assistant golf coach at Auburn, where she played college golf, for three and a half seasons before being hired at Central Florida. As an Auburn golfer, she was a three-time All-SEC selection, an All-American in 2002 and played in a school-best 46 tournaments.

She also played on a first-place Curtis Cup team in 2002, qualified for the 2002 U.S. Open as an amateur, finished 61st in the 2004 U.S. Open and played professionally for more than two years on the Duramed Futures Tour.
