LAWRENCEVILLE -- Fire investigators have ruled arson in a Friday morning fire at a vacant Lawrenceville home.
Gwinnett County firefighters reported to the home near the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road just after 10 a.m. Friday, responding to a call from a passerby. Crews removed plywood boards from the windows of the vacant home to gain entry, and were able to quickly control the blaze.
The fire was contained to one room, fire department spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said.
Investigators later determined that the blaze at the home -- which had property sale signs in the front yard -- was intentionally set. It originated in the room where it was contained, Rhoden said.
