Snellville to test emergency system

SNELLVILLE -- On Thursday, the city of Snellville is launching a test for its CodeRED Emergency System to call the entire community.

The calls will begin approximately at 3 p.m. and will continue until every number has been called in the current database.

Since this is only a test, the message will tell residents to go to Snellville's website to add additional numbers to the contact database and tell friends, family and neighbors to do the same.

Those without Internet access should call 770-985-3500 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to add their information.

Snellville Police Chief Roy Whitehead suggests that "all individuals and businesses should take the time to visit our website and add contact information to include cellular phones and other non-traditional phones as well as email and text addresses. If your contact information is not in the database, you will not receive a call when an urgent message is sent."
