LILBURN -- An attempted robbery at a Norcross apartment triggered a SWAT standoff and three arrests early Saturday morning, police said.
Just after midnight Saturday morning, police were called to the Woodland Ridge Apartments at 1355 Indian Trail Road. The alleged victim reported that three males attempted to rob him and, when he resisted, ran on foot to a nearby apartment, Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Jennifer Roberts said.
Officers attempted to make contact with the suspects -- George Ulysses Hernandez, 20, Mario Almaguer-Ojeda, 18, and a 16-year-old juvenile, all of Lilburn -- but were unsuccessful. The SWAT team was called in, Roberts said.
"After SWAT team members arrived on scene, negotiators began addressing the suspects inside the apartment," Roberts said. "Over the course of approximately 30 minutes all suspects surrendered to officers without further incident."
Gwinnett County jail records show Hernandez has been charged with one felony count of criminal attempt to commit a crime. Almaguer-Ojeda was charged with criminal attempt to commit a crime, burglary, violation of probation and three counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Both men are being held without bond.
