LONDON — Brookwood grad Amanda Weir earned the third Olympic medal of her career Saturday, earning a bronze with the Americans' 400-meter relay.

Weir swam for the U.S. in preliminaries Saturday morning, helping the foursome to second in qualifying with a time of 3 minutes, 36.53 seconds.

The SwimAtlanta product, who won two silver medals with relays in the 2004 Olympics, and Natalie Coughlin were replaced for the final by Missy Franklin and Jessica Hardy.

The U.S. team swam an American-record time of 3:34.24 in the finals, but finished third behind Australia and the Netherlands. It was still good enough to give Coughlin her 12th Olympic medal, tying fellow swimmers Dara Torres and Jenny Thompson as the most decorated U.S. female Olympians in any sport.

Lia Neal and Allison Schmitt also swam on the 400 free relay in both prelims and the final.
