Ruby Mae McCullers Herndon, age 81, of Snellville, Georgia (Centerville Community) went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2012, after a gallant battle with lung cancer and a recent stroke. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Raymond Herndon on July 28, 1995. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Bryant and her husband Frank of Mobile, AL, Donna Huser and her husband Joe of Snellville, GA; granddaughter, Audra Lynne Fulde; grandson, Daniel Robert Fulde both of Snellville, GA; sister, Edith Moon and her husband Kelly of Snellville, GA; sisters-in-law, Hester McCullers of the Mountain Park Community, Betty Stone of Orangesburg, SC, Barbara Harrison and her husband Gordon of Chamblee, GA; brothers-in-law, Alan Herndon and his wife Winifred of Grayson, GA, Logan “Bucky” Herndon and his wife Julie of Lilburn, GA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Mrs. Herndon was also preceded in death by her parents, Berdie Mae Campbell McCullers and C. H. “Babe” McCullers; six brothers, Melvin McCullers, Jim McCullers, Olen McCullers, George C. “Snooks” McCullers, Jack McCullers and Sam McCullers. Ruby Mae Herndon was born on December 12, 1930 in the Centerville Community where she has been a lifelong resident. Mrs. Herndon graduated from the former Snellville High School where she played basketball and was known for her athletic abilities. She was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church and always enjoyed being a member of the Hancock Sunday School Class. Mrs. Herndon worked for many years as a hairdresser, and also worked for many years for Garland Cleaners and Action Awards. She was known for her great sense of humor, her talents as a seamstress, being a wood-worker, and loyal fan to the Atlanta Braves. Ruby Mae Herndon could do anything in the eyes of her family and friends. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by everyone that knew this wonderful lady. A Service Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Herndon will be held Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 4:30 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Rev. Joe B. Bowen officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rockbridge Cemetery, Centerville Hwy., Snellville, GA.
