WINDER -- Baseball and softball might be synonymous with summer, but leaders at Auburn Dixie Youth urge parents to remember that the sports keep swinging into the autumn.
Registration for the league's 2012 fall baseball and softball season is under way. The final day for sign-up will be the evening of Aug. 2, beginning at the Auburn Ball Park at 6:30 p.m. and wrapping two hours later. Only cash, check or money orders will be accepted on-site, leaders said.
For a small fee, online registration will be available for those interested paying with a credit or debit card. Online registration will continue until Aug. 2 as well, leaders said.
Auburn Dixie Youth is a nonprofit organization operated by volunteers.
States the league's website: "We are a family-oriented ball park where children of all skill levels are given an opportunity to enjoy baseball and softball. Some have been playing for many years while others are walking onto the field for the very first time. Our children are not only learning fundamental skills, they are learning how to become team players while building self-confidence and independence."
The home of Auburn Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball is the City of Auburn's Ball Park, located at 1320 Mary Carter Road.
