DACULA -- After training for two months three times a week, 12-year-old Sophia Sasso of Dacula traveled to Orlando, Fla., to be a part of the International Junior Miss National Pageant in early July.
When she returned to Gwinnett, she had been officially crowned as 2012 International Junior Miss Pre-Teen.
"The most exciting thing while competing was meeting new friends from all over the country," Sasso said. "I believe that pageants teach young girls to have self confidence and also prepare us to be able to speak in public."
At the pageant, she was required to answer questions during an interview, be a part of the general introduction and show of her fashion sense with "fun fashion" and evening wear performances.
"I wore a beaded short fuchsia dress from Bravura Fashions during the fun fashion," Sasso said.
With her new sash and crown, the young Dacula resident is preparing for her next pageant, Junior Teen America. But she has one ultimate goal for the future.
"I would love to one day participate in Miss Georgia Teen USA," Sasso said.
