Dreams From My Real Father: A Story of Reds and Deception (NR)
Movie: 3 and 1/2 stars
Disc: 2 and 1/2 stars
Unlike Oliver Stone's "JFK" and Warren Beatty's "Reds," director Joel Gilbert's "Dreams from My Real Father" is an actual documentary. It's about a left-leaning historical figure that offers up an alternative version to a questionably accurate original article written by its subject. It never calls into question the authenticity of President Barack Obama's U.S. birth. It does however provide a strong argument that Obama's biological father is Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the U.S. Communist party and a key influence during Obama's formative years. Will it change anyone's mind on either side of the political fence regarding Obama? Probably not, but it is a real grabber and is supremely provocative and entertaining.
