Central Gwinnett linebacker Trey Johnson was named to the Butkus Award watch list, which selects the nation's best linebacker.
Johnson, an Auburn commitment, led Gwinnett County in tackles the last two years.
Semifinalists for the award will be named on Oct. 22 and finalists will be selected on Nov. 20. The winners will be notified on Dec. 4.
Johnson was one of 51 high school players from across the country selected to the watch list, including three from Georgia. Cental Macon's Nigel Bowden and West Laurens' Johnny O'Neal were the other Georgian's selected to the watch list.
