ATLANTA — Former Commissioner Shirley Lasseter will have more time before being sentenced in a federal bribery case.
Lasseter pleaded guilty to the charge May 31 and had been scheduled to learn her sentence Aug. 6, but U.S. attorneys asked for a delay in a court filing.
In the document, lawyers ask for at least a 30-day continuance to “facilitate matters related to the defendant’s cooperation.”
Lasseter, who faced charges along with her son John Fanning and associate Skip Cain, agreed to cooperate in an ongoing government investigation.
The document, filed Friday, said the defendants “do not oppose” the continuance.
A new sentencing date has been set for Sept. 5.

Sorry that she chose this route for herself, but she already had a long history of questionable political favor exchanges, just not quite as open as this one (allegedly) was. She was basically at the bottom political rung and got burned the worst. Hopefully she'll be able to spread some of that around as she sings like a bird about whatever she may know.

The best thing she could have done was to plead guilty, saved us a lot of money. Now she needs to start naming names as well and let the chips fall where they may. Have some respect for her for pleading guilty, wish the other ones had done the same.

Why would prosecutors want to delay the sentencing? To facilitate what matters? She has pleaded guilty along with her friends and family. Why isn't the real facts written here? Dig deeper GDP. We smell a rat.
