SWAT descends on Norcross gunman

NORCROSS -- A SWAT team descended on a Norcross home late Friday after nearby officers heard shots fired in what police said started as a drug deal but quickly became an armed robbery.

Gwinnett County Police arrived at 1205 Willow Brook Court around 11 p.m. to find several witnesses and others involved in the incident, including an injured man who was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center, having suffered a "human bite to the arm."

Police said all persons involved except for the injured man "were gone on arrival."

According to a police report, a gunman was observed inside the home, which was surrounded by officers. "It was decided to activate SWAT before entering the home," stated a report prepared by Sgt. R.E. Long with Gwinnett County Police. "Officers began interviewing witnesses and parties involved and quickly learned that the incident had been a drug deal turned into a robbery."

Police said that SWAT cleared the home and found nobody inside.

"Interviews by detectives with the parties detained determined four subjects had arrived to the incident location to buy drugs from an unknown amount of individuals. After arriving, three of the four males were led inside and promptly assaulted and tied up and robbed at gunpoint," the report said.

Outside the home in the driveway, one of the suspects got in a fight with another suspect and one of them pulled a handgun. No one was shot, but "one of the subjects bit the other."

A search warrant was obtained for the home, and an investigation is ongoing. Police said no one is currently in custody following the incident.
