DULUTH -- On Aug. 18, the Georgia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will hold its third annual "You Ain't Nothin' but a Pound Dog" fundraiser to benefit the Georgia SPCA shelter and pet adoption center and promote responsible pet ownership locally.
The fundraiser, which will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Gwinnett Center Ballroom, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth, has a "Viva Las Vegas!" theme, featuring casino games, dancing and live entertainment, food and celebrities including an Elvis tribute.
Celebrity guest host Holly Firfer of CNN news and special guest Pam Johnson-Bennett, star of Discovery Channel's television series, "Psycho Kitty" will also be at the event.
A silent auction and raffle will feature the chance to win lodging and airfare to Cancun, Mexico; an Atlanta Braves suite for 20 people plus parking passes; four park hopper passes to any Walt Disney World theme park; two tickets to Carrie Underwood's concert at the Gwinnett Arena; a foursome of golf at the River Club or Sugar Loaf Golf and Country Club and many other prizes.
