DULUTH -- Two entertainment publications have ranked the Arena at Gwinett Center as a top venue.
Pollster Magazine and Venues Today each in their July issues ranked the facility in the top 14 of entertainment venues around the country, and among the top 36 worldwide.
Pollster's ranking was based on arena attendance of 156,378 tickets sold, ranked 14th in the country, while Venues tabbed the Arena because of its mid-year gross ticket sales of $7,335,604, which is fourth domestically.
"It is through the tireless work of our promoters, staff and board, and the continual support that we receive from our sponsors, community partners and event-goers that have made this venue a success," general manager Joseph Dennis said in a news release.

I feel a great "disturbance" in the ticket prices… as if suddenly, they all increased at once...

Isn't the Arena privatized like the airport should be?

Yes, teepee, but unlike the airport deal, arenas like this have been successful elsewhere, actually make sense, are popularly accepted, and aren't a guaranteed cancerous growth on taxpayer wallets. There never was any such thing as a privatized Briscoe airport, given the guarantees that the Propeller Fellers required from us. You must LOVE TV commercials, Internet SPAM and political mailers - all as believable as the airport scam.

So no other regional airports are successful elsewhere?? Cancer on the wallet? LOL! Bet you live in or near Lawrenceville. Your Mayberry is safe for now. You can blame the airport privatization debacle on the commissioners.

Name one private airport that was successfully commercialized - just one (hint - there ARE none). We were PROMISED a huge expensive liability by the FAA (mimiced in Propeller's proposal), and were only their second reluctant choice (the first one declined). The plan was represented by a company only successful in bankrupcies. Nope, don't live anywhere near Larryville. Yes, it was a debacle, thus its defeat.
