Collins Hill students and alumni set for benefit concert

LAWRENCEVILLE -- On April 1, 2008, Collins Hill student Taylor Brooks lost her life to a rare childhood cancer called Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor. She was an avid soccer player, a first degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and sang in her high school's chorus.

On Saturday, current Collins Hill students and several alumni reunite for a concert to honor the Taylor Brooks Foundation and help raise money to help serve patients, families and doctors dealing with rare forms of childhood cancer.

"She was a Collins Hill choir student -- I feel like we're giving back to her with the concert," said Jason Jones, a 2009 Collins Hill graduate.

During the performance, more than 40 chorus members will sing 13 songs ranging from contemporary hits to Motown classics with an intermission in the middle.

"We will be selling concessions in the middle of the show to raise more money," Jones said. "Not only will it be a great concert, but the money is going to a great cause."

All of the proceeds benefit the Taylor Brooks Foundation. For more information about the organization, visit www.taylorbrooksfoundation.org.
