The Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer program announced its inaugural schedule Monday, with the highly anticipated opener planned for Aug. 25 on the school's Lawrenceville campus.

The Grizzlies will host Tennessee Temple in the program's first game on Saturday, Aug. 25, part of a doubleheader that also features a 1 p.m. women's soccer game between GGC and Tennessee Temple. The opener kicks off an 18-game men's schedule that includes nine home games.

The initial games of the upcoming season will be played on GGC's intramural fields while the permanent, synthetic turf field, part of a $13.5 million varsity athletics complex along Collins Hill Road, is completed. The soccer teams hope to get games in on the official game field later in the season.

GGC will open its debut men's soccer season with an Aug. 18 home scrimmage vs. Oglethorpe, followed by the Aug. 25 home opener and a Sept. 1 home game with Emmanuel. The Grizzlies also have men's home games on Sept. 15 vs. Bob Jones, Sept. 19 vs. Georgia Southwestern, Oct. 6 vs. Auburn-Montgomery, Oct. 12 vs. Crown College, Oct. 20 vs. Florida College, Oct. 21 vs. Oakwood and Nov. 3 vs. Hiwassee.

The road games include an in-state trip to a Savannah tournament, along with games at Young Harris, Covenant and Reinhardt.

"Our 2012 schedule will offer the opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best teams in this region ranging from NCAA Division II to NAIA," GGC men's soccer coach Steve DeCou said. "Our goal for the upcoming year is to have a winning record and implement a playing style and identity that establishes a culture and tradition of success that will lead to future championships."
