DULUTH -- Hardeman Fine Art Glass opens its doors for a good cause on Saturday. Owner Ken Hardeman hosts the Duluth Fine Art League's fourth annual Arts at Twilight to raise money for scholarships for Duluth's high school art students and other arts in the city.
This year's theme is "An Evening in Paris."
"'An Evening in Paris' brings people together for one purpose," Co-chair Mary Buck said. "It is a fun event where people can enjoy an evening at a very reasonable price. It is important for the future of our community because it provides scholarships for high school students who can go on to fulfill their dreams of being an artist, musician, graphic designer or some other field within the arts."
The event boasts to have stained glass art on display as well as other types of visual and performing artists on site, including musicians playing an accordion and a piano, plus a quartet and vocalist.
Besides music and art, appetizers, champagne and wine is served courtesy of Proof of the Pudding.
For those who would like to raise additional money for the students, the Fine Arts League has a silent auction prepared with items from local merchants. Duluth's Gem Shopping Network has donated a strand of Tahitian pearls for the auction and the piece of jewelry is valued at $3,000.
The Duluth Fine Arts League is a nonprofit established in 2008 as a Task Force Committee by Mayor Nancy Harris. In early 2009, the group had a working committee of more than 30 community residents involved in sub-committees and new projects involving the arts. The organization also raises money with its First Friday Art Walks, The Fine Arts Scholarship Program and Duluth Reads during the year.
Sponsors for "An Evening in Paris" include Proof of the Pudding, The Gem Shopping Network, city of Duluth, Huthmaker's Violins, Focal Point Kitchen and Bath, Eaton Academy, NEMA, FHTM, Finest Event Rentals, Chocolate Perks and Hardeman Fine Art Glass.
The fundraiser ends at 10 p.m.
