DULUTH -- While going for a walk in Alpharetta, a Gwinnett County daycare worker stopped by a grocery store a purchased a lottery ticket that won her $400,000.
Patsy Wehby, 56, claimed her prize recently at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth.
The mother of three was out for a walk, when she stepped into Kroger No. 0495 in Alpharetta, where she purchased the lucky ticket.
"I was looking crazy," she said. "I was crying. I called my daughter. It was a good day for me."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
