LAWRENCEVILLE - A traffic accident on Ga. Highway 316 sent two people to the hospital with serious injuries Tuesday, as onlookers caused multiple additional crashes.
The original three-vehicle accident occurred early Tuesday evening on Ga. Highway 316 westbound near Sugarloaf Parkway, Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said. Two victims, including a child, were transported via helicopter to an Atlanta-area hospital.
There were no fatalities reported Tuesday.
Continued road closures on Ga. Highway 316 were the result of at least three additional accidents. Smith said those crashes were "the result of additional accidents in the backup, and onlookers traveling in the opposite direction."
None of the secondary incidents were considered serious.
