Lauro “Larry” Vasquez, age 61, of Suwanee, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Duluth Chapel. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Duluth. Mr. Vasquez was retired from the United States Army; serving 22 years and attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3. He served a 13 month tour in the Vietnam War as a door gunner. Mr. Vasquez was preceded in death by his parents, Cruz and Enriqueta Vasquez; sister, Rosa Vasquez; and brother-in-law, Gilbert Guajardo. Survivors include his wife, Siglinde “Lindi” Vasquez of Suwanee. Children, Apollina Whitney and her husband, Ian of Decatur; Lance Vasquez of Suwanee. Granddaughter, Lillian Whitney of Decatur. Brothers and sisters, Gloria Guajardo of Brownsville, TX; Emmanuel (Diana) Vasquez of Brownsville, TX; Marie Elena Sowders of San Antonio, TX; Rosalva (Pascual) Rodriguez of Brownsville, TX; Josue (Terrie) Vasquez of Brownsville, TX; and many nieces and nephews. The family will recieve friends on Tuesday from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Bill Head Funeral Home, Duluth Chapel (770) 476-2535.
