Sadie Burton Mitchell, age 91 of Snellville, GA went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2012. Sadie was born in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, May 19, 1921 and graduated from Atlanta Girls High School in 1939. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Judge Preston H. Mitchell, Sr. her son, Captain Philip L. Mitchell and son, Preston H. Mitchell, Jr. She is survived by her son, Paul M. Mitchell, Sr. and his wife Sandie, granddaughter, Heather Mitchell, grandson, Paul Jr. and his wife Carla, great grandsons, Joshua and Matthew; daughter-in-law, Marcia H. Mitchell and grandson, Philip, all of Snellville, GA; daughter-in-law, Ruth M. Mitchell and grandson, Kevin Mitchell, Sr. and his wife, Cathy, great grandson, Kevin, Jr., of Cumming, GA.; granddaughter, Karen Mitchell Munoz and her husband, Eduardo, great grandson, Colin, great granddaughter, Marisa of Monroe, GA. Sadie was a member of Snellville First Baptist Church for over 40 years where she was active in the Prayer Ministry and a devoted member of Sue Shealey’s senior adult women’s bible study class. She was a regular visitor to nursing homes and hospitals from the age of 13 until recently, when her physical limitations prevented her from doing so. She was active in numerous church and Sunday school positions throughout her adult life. A Funeral Service Celebrating the Life of Sadie B. Mitchell will be held Saturday, July 7 at 11:00AM at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Dr. James G. Merritt officiating. Interment will be held at Snellville Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 8PM at the funeral home.
