SUWANEE -- A local corporation recently donated $50,000 in support of the Gwinnett County Public Schools Foundation Fund, money that will go toward supporting graduation success programs in the district.

Specifically, the funds will target programs at South Gwinnett and Shiloh high schools.

The one-year grant is planned to assist programs at the schools such as the FUTURE project at South Gwinnett, an intensive program for at-risk students with a goal of increasing the number of academic credits earned per semester.

The program establishes a plan for success for each student in order to earn credit, pass state assessments, graduate on time and prepare for postsecondary study.

Staff at Shiloh High have plans to invest the grant money in credit recovery efforts to support students who need help graduating on time. The schools will split the grant with $25,000 going to each high school.
