Ray Doss

Ray Doss, 72 of Duluth, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away July 3, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in Tift County, GA on October 30, 1939 to Oscar and Mildred Doss. Ray grew up in Omega, GA and was of the Methodist faith. He attended South Georgia Trade & Vocational School. Ray served three years in the U. S. Army including one year in Korea with the 71st Artillery B Battery, 2nd Missile Battalion. In 1962 Ray met Karen Stone and they were married on January 6, 1963. Ray retired from United Parcel Service in 1995 after 28 years of service. Ray is survived by his wife, Karen, a son, Chip and wife, Michelle of Duluth, a son, Mark of Auburn, grandson Ryan of Statesboro, granddaughters, Elizabeth and Blaire of Duluth, a sister Barbara and husband, Lloyd Clark of Norman park, and a brother, Jack and wife Jenelle of Omega. He is predeceased by his parents, a sister, Janice Purvis and a grandson, Tucker. Rays greatest pleasures were spending time with family, bass fishing and traveling. Ray was loved and respected by many and will be remembered for his good nature, friendliness (he never met a stranger) and sense of humor, especially his one-liners. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Crowell Brothers Peachtree Chapel. Burial will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park, Norcross. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
