Lightning strike may have caused Duluth house fire

DULUTH -- Gwinnett firefighters responded to a house fire on Tuesday night after a caller reported a lightning strike and smoke and fire in the upper level of the home.

The house fire, in the 2100 block of Broadfield Run, was reported just before 9 p.m., and crews had the blaze under control by 9:30 p.m. Gwinnett Fire spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said homeowners weren't home at the time of the fire, but arrived during firefighting efforts. When firefighters arrived, they found fire through the roof, Rhoden said.

The cause of the fire is unknown, Rhoden said, and no injuries were reported.
