Sports Editor Will Hammock
For nearly a decade, the Gwinnett Prep Rally message board was the place to talk Gwinnett County sports, particularly football.
The state-wide message boards can get flooded with South Georgia posters, so the local board offered the best place to discuss what was happening right here in Gwinnett. Unfortunately, the GPR board crashed recently and lost all its content, leaving a void for its many followers. Batten Communications, which owns GPR and the high school sports TV show hosted by myself and Todd Cline, now directs fans to its Facebook page instead of the message board.
Now, onto the good news.
For Gwinnett sports fans eager for a message board, the Daily Post launched a replacement this week at www.gwinnettprepsports.com, our prep-centered site that is slated for even more enhancement in the coming months.
This message board — called a forum in our online vernacular — will allow fans to post and interact with others about high school sports topics, just like GPR. Judging from the emails I've gotten from readers asking about the GPR board, there is a need for a replacement.
Hopefully before long we'll have MojoRising, Crewting, BustertheBronco and the other GPR regulars (suwaneesooner and Snake have already joined us) on our board. Maybe we can even get BlackKnight4ever out of retirement.
Unlike the GPR board, readers can expect frequent interaction on our forums from the Daily Post's sports staff. I can only remember posting on the GPR board once (to defend former Shiloh coach Robert Matthews), but I plan to post and answer reader questions pretty regularly on the Daily Post's forums. Our other sports writers will do the same.
To access our boards, simply go to www.gwinnettprepsports.com/forums and check them out. After your initial 10 comments, your posts will appear automatically without approval.
We look forward to hearing from you as our board continues to grow. Hope you enjoy it.
