SNELLVILLE -- A deep fryer that flashed oil and ignited on Wednesday was the cause of a blaze that took firefighters about an hour and a half to control.
An arson investigator was on the scene of the incident at 4250 Waverly Downs Drive in Snellville that displaced three adults, Gwinnett Fire spokesman Lt. Colin Rhoden said. Crews were on the scene at 5:37 p.m., and the fire was under control by 7:14 p.m., Rhoden said. All of the residents were outside during the fire, Rhoden said.
"When the fire was knocked down, firefighters again made an interior attack where they were confronted with extremely high heat conditions," Rhoden said. "A ladder truck used the master stream to extinguish the mass of the fire."
Rhoden said there were no injuries reported, but heavy damage to the attic/roof and interior of the house.
