GRAYSON -- A bright orange copy of the New Testament sits at the corner of Lakeview Road and Graystone Parkway, propped up by a Sacred Heart of Jesus candle and flanked by balloons, teddy bears and a praying angel statuette.

The words "You're So Special," scrawled across one of the balloons, were directed at 16-year-old Brittany Sailors, the teen killed Sunday at the residential Grayson intersection. Sailors was a rising junior at Grayson High School and passed away at the scene of the accident that took her life at about 9:40 p.m. Sunday.

Better known as "Angel," Sailors was a cheerleader and is remembered as an outgoing, caring girl. She was a devout member of Graystone Church.

Friends and family members posted remembrances in an online guestbook for Tom M. Wages Funeral Services.

"Angel has left a sweet impression on so many," one visitor wrote.

"Angel was a true blessing and gift to everyone who knew her," another wrote. "May God bless and keep you all.

Sailors' sister wrote that the teen "always had a smile on your face" and "could light up a room."

Police believe Sailors was stopped at the stop sign at Graystone Parkway and Lakeview Road Sunday. Mutajah Claude Paasewe, 23, of Grayson was headed west on Lakeview Road when Sailors pulled out and the two cars collided.

Sailors' passenger, 16-year-old Lacey Gowens of Lawrenceville, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The Sailors family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Graystone Church, located at 1551 Ozora Road in Loganville. Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday.
